When setting a date, without specifying the time zone, Java Script will use the browser's time zone.
When getting a date, without specifying the time zone, the result is converted to the browser's time zone.
You don't need to do that when using HTML 5 type="date" attribute (the format then will be forced to be YYYY-MM-DD).
options can be either a date string in the format of YYYY-MM-DD or a Date object.
The usual metacharacters are normal characters inside a character class, and do not need to be escaped by a backslash. Your regex will work fine if you escape the regular metacharacters inside a character class, but doing so significantly reduces readability.
